LG produce a large range of LCD televisions ranging from 15″ to 50″. The latest range of LG LCD televisions is the REGZA; the REGZA series incorporates a whole host of LG’s latest innovations which include the Meta brain and Active-Vision II.

Every TV in the LG range now comes with High definition viewing as standard meaning you get 1080p picture quality available every minute whether you want to watch a HD movie or compete in a HD game.

The Meta Brain allows the TV to create the high quality pictures that it produces. It gives rise to applications such as ActiveVision II, autoview and also Resolution.

ActiveVision II is the picture processing unit which has won Toshiba many awards. This function delivers amazing images from either a high definition source or a standard definition source. It increases the number of colors outputted on the TV.

Resolution is aimed to try and make standard definition feeds as good as HD feeds. The feature increases the edge detail of the picture and also increases the textual content resulting in a picture almost as good as HD an impressive feat considering standard definition contains about half as much information.

Autoview is a function that automatically adjusts the backlight of the TV with respect to the ambient lighting of the room. In bright rooms the backlight is increased to make the picture more visible whilst in darker rooms the backlight is dimmed to ensure less strain on the eyes.

LG have recognized the need for high class audio to compliment the high quality picture. Bass boost is provided to enhance the deep bass tones played when viewing movies, but also included is a Dolby Digital Plus connection allowing for Dolby digital audio playback.

The REGZAs include a Game mode which allows the user to change to the game mode to automatically adjust the picture settings to provide a more natural gaming environment.

The LG range comes with the generic TV connections; SCART, Component, RCA but in addition to these they also provide numerous HDMI connections and also on some models a PC input and media card functionality.

The LG LCD televisions range is probably the second best in the business losing out only to the Sony Bravia range but then considering the cost of the Sony’s it’s easy to see why. Including price in the decision and personally I would say the REGZA range is the best available reasonably priced wit high quality picture and sound encased in a stylish design.
